25 May 2018 – Another early morning rise, this time for arguably the best lookout point on Hong Kong Island…
Arriving at Victoria Peak just after 4am, my wife and I were a little startled when we ran into a shadow at the Lugard Road lookout, standing there all alone in the dark. Turned out it was another photographer, and that she had been there all night doing time-lapses. She had also been at the same spot the previous day but had returned in the hope for a better sunrise this morning.
Thankfully, the clouds did part for the sun to make an appearance on this day and we, along with the two other photographers that straggled up a bit later were treated to a spectacular sunrise.
I never truly appreciated this view of the harbour from the lookout when my family and I lived here in the 80s. Having developed the bug for photography since, I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to revisit this location and to see it in a new light.
