13 March 2017 – There are two places on the island of Penang that never fail to evoke for me happy memories of my childhood in Malaysia. One is my grandmother’s house in Tanjung Bungah (a suburb located on the north of the island). The other is Gurney Drive, a seaside promenade located near the capital city of George Town.
With the development of the surrounding area over the years (and the current reclamation project) much of the beachfront along Gurney Drive is no longer there. There is however a small stretch at the eastern end (near the Northam Beach cafe) where you can catch a glimpse into how things once were. It is a nice spot to go for an early morning walk, and if you’re up early enough, to catch a sunrise.

You entice me to escape to here with such beautiful images and well crafted words. Keep the goodness coming, Will!
Thanks very much Al! Truly appreciate the encouraging words and am glad you like the post. 🙂
