21 May 2017 – There’s nothing quite like the moment when you see an iconic view of a city for the first time…
During our recent stay in Madrid, my wife and I stopped by Gran Via, a street popular with tourists and locals alike for the many and varied entertainment, shopping and dining options on offer. However, the main reason for our visit was not to shop or eat, but rather to catch a sunset view of the famous street from high above.
Having arrived quite late in the day, we had to hurry a little to not miss the setting sun. Not even the sighting of a Five Guys store and the lure of their burgers and shakes was enough to steer us from our mission!
Thankfully, we were able to make it there in time. For those wondering, the place to catch the view is on the food court level of the El Corte Inglés store. The closest metro is Callao, though it’s also an easy walking distance from the Gran Via metro if you’re travelling on Line 1.
The food court is a fantastic place to just sit back, enjoy the view and some casual dining. Or, if your preference is for fast food, there’s always Five Guys just across the road!
Great info Will!
Thanks for the well written parts and images from all around the world.
